Our friendly, caring team are ready to welcome you to Abbey Lea.
We have an open door policy so family and visitors are made welcome at all times.

Refreshments are offered and can be enjoyed in whichever area they wish, whether it is in the privacy of the bedroom or in a communal room, the choice is yours.

We strive to provide you with a quality service, in a caring, competent and professional atmosphere. We encourage and enable our residents to live as full, interesting and independent a lifestyle as possible. Staff carryout activities which relate to current affairs or notable/memorable days, such as St Valentines day, Easter, last night at the proms, Halloween.

We are also committed to ensure residents are fully consulted about matters that effect their well being and quality of life.

We are pleased to have a male care assistant alongside our friendly female ones. We feel a mix of the sexes is good for all our residents. We have a good staff ratio with a good skill mix on duty at all times. A senior person is always available to discuss any issues of concerns. We have a very good staff team who bring their own individuality into the home which creates the caring, homely atmosphere of our home. The staff team have a wiliness to learn to improve their knowledge in the care sector.

We have an excellent Training Manager, Mrs Leonnie Martin and her team who deliver all mandatory training and also provide additional training courses that enhance the life of the clients. The majority of our staff are either training or have completed a NVQ in Health and Social Care to the level 2 or above.

Beverly Emmet – Registered Manager has worked in the care sector for over 20 years. She is particularly experienced with clients with dementia, physical disabilities and old age. She has an NVQ level 2 and 4 in Health and Social Care, She also holds the Joseph Rowntree Certificate in Care and the Registered Managers Award.

Lorraine Bensley is the Deputy Manager and has worked in the care sector for many years and has lots of experience of working with the elderly. Lorraine has gained NVQ level 2 & 3 in Health and Social Care and also her assessors’ award for NVQ.

In addition we have two Team Leaders and one senior Carer who have all achieved NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care a second senior carer has NVQ level 2 and we have 19 day and night Care Assistants who either have or are working towards a National Vocational Qualification.
Three domestic assistants, two part-time cooks and a handyman complete our ancillary staff.
